Johannes is a barrister and Nationally Accredited Mediator, practising exclusively in family law. 

He accepts briefs for Court appearances, mediations (both as mediator and representing parties), arbitrations, advice and paperwork, including in relation to financial agreements and child support agreements.

Johannes regularly appears in the Family Court and Federal Circuit Court, and at mediations, in a diverse range of family law litigation, including:

  • complex property settlements;
  • de facto property disputes (including jurisdictional threshold matters);
  • spousal maintenance;
  • financial agreements; and
  • parenting disputes, including those involving:
    • allegations of family violence;
    • drug abuse and alienation;
    • children with special needs;
    • relocation (including international relocation); and
    • overseas-travel applications.

Johannes's clients benefit from his excellent communication and problem-solving skills, and a highly numerate and commercial approach.

In 2014, Johannes graduated with a Master of Laws (Applied Law) degree majoring in family law, and was awarded the Sandra Paul Memorial Prize for the Best Graduating Student.  He also holds Bachelor degrees with honours from Monash University in both Law and Software Engineering.   

Johannes is a member of the Family Law Bar Association, the Family Law Section of the Law Council of Australia, the Family Law Section of the Law Institute of Victoria, and the Australian Institute of Family Law Arbitrators and Mediators.

Prior to coming to the Bar, Johannes worked for over six years at Taussig Cherrie Fildes, a first-tier specialist family law firm, where he had engaged in all types of family law litigation, and also gained extensive experience drafting, and advising on, child support agreements and financial agreements (including pre-nuptial, ante-nuptial, de facto cohabitation, and cross-jurisdictional agreements).

Prior to coming to the law, Johannes ran a software engineering consultancy, and taught undergraduate computer science and software engineering at Monash University.

He is fluent in German.
