Mark accepts briefs to appear and advise in all criminal and quasi-criminal matters in metropolitan and regional courts.

Prior to coming to the Bar, Mark practised as a solicitor advocate for over seven years in private practice at Matthew White and Associates and Victoria Legal Aid. He also undertook a secondment to the Victorian Aboriginal Legal Service. He appears in the Magistrates’ Court, County Court and Children’s Court in committals, contested hearings, appeals, pleas of guilty and bail applications.

As a solicitor, Mark managed a large summary and indictable practice appearing for defendants charged with homicides, sexual offences, violent offences, dishonesty and drug offences.

Mark was Acting Deputy Managing Lawyer at Victoria Legal Aid in their sexual offences unit and has experience in defending complex historical sexual offence prosecutions and applications for supervision orders under the Serious  Offenders Act 2018.

Mark has experience in quasi-criminal hearings having acted for individuals in the Royal Commission into Trade Union Governance and Corruption.

Mark is reading with Marcus Dempsey. His Senior Mentor is John Kelly SC.
