James Moutsias accepts briefs in all areas of criminal and quasi-criminal law, as well as administrative and common law.  

He appears in a broad range of summary and indictable matters, including appeals, contested hearings, committals, bail applications and pleas. He appears in all Victorian courts and tribunals.  

James previously worked at boutique criminal firm Kaczmarek Grigor lawyers. He has also been a legal academic at Monash, Deakin and ACU, giving him a strong background in research focusing on discrimination law, administrative law, personal injury and class actions. 

In addition to his criminal practice, James has a special interest in the intersection between Artificial Intelligence and the law and has co-authored a paper on the use and legality of AI in government decision-making. 

James is reading with Michael McGrath and his senior mentor is Dermot Dann KC.
