Mietta accepts briefs in all areas of criminal and quasi-criminal law.
Prior to coming to the Bar, Mietta was a solicitor advocate at Stary Norton Halphen. She appeared and instructed in pleas, appeals, bail applications, trials, committals and contested hearings in the Magistrates’, County and Supreme Courts of Victoria.
In addition to her criminal practice, Mietta has experience appearing in large coronial inquests, including as Counsel Assisting. She also appears at sports disciplinary tribunals and has appeared on behalf of a number of Australian cricket players.
Mietta commenced her legal career as Associate to her Honour Judge Hannan, then Head of the Criminal Division of the County Court. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she worked as the Legal Policy Officer in the Magistrates’ Court of Victoria.
