Carmella Ben-Simon is an experienced trial advocate who has practiced law for over 32 years having been admitted to practice in 1998 and signing the Victorian Bar roll as Counsel in 1989.

Commercial Law
Carmella has a background in general commercial litigation, wills, guardianship and administration disputes and has represented clients in the Supreme Court, County Court, Magistrates Court and various Tribunals in Victoria.

Family law
Carmella specialises in all matters relating to family law including division of property, businesses and overseas assets, de facto relationship threshold cases, complex parenting cases, relocation cases, spousal support applications, third party claims, freezing order applications, injunctive relief applications, contravention applications, farming cases and subpoena objections.

Carmella represents clients in the Family Court of Australia and the Federal Court of Australia and provides advice and representation to individuals, corporations and government entities in all areas of family law. She settles documents, advises on legal strategy, evidence and procedure and appears at all stages of a matter from settlement conferences and mediation to final trials when a matter cannot be resolved by negotiation. Carmella works closely with her instructing solicitors and clients to ensure that the best outcome is achieved.

Mediation
Carmella is a Nationally Accredited Mediator and qualified as a mediator in 1998. She conducts mediations either in her chambers or at a suitable mediation facility in matters of family law, wills and probate disputes and general commercial litigation.

Teaching and Training
Carmella is regularly invited to deliver papers and speak at forums as part of continuing legal education for legal practitioners. 

She trains and coaches trainee barristers as part of the Victorian Bar readers course.
