Shannon has a broad commercial and public law practice.
His commercial practice covers corporations, insolvency, banking, contracts, property, professional negligence, insurance, defamation, consumer protection and trade practices law.
Immediately before the Bar, Shannon was a solicitor at the Department of Premier and Cabinet (DPC), in its Office of General Counsel. He advised the Premier and Cabinet Ministers on significant State litigation, Royal Commissions and public and administrative law.
Prior to joining DPC, he was an Associate in the Commercial Disputes and Insolvency team at Mills Oakley. He acted for public companies, private companies and insolvency practitioners in the County Court, Supreme Court, Federal Court and appellate courts.
Shannon has extensive experience in urgent injunctions and interlocutory disputes. This includes disputes about freezing orders, search orders, security for costs, privilege, subpoenas, summary judgment and striking out of pleadings. He also has significant trial experience.
He welcomes briefs to advise or appear, and accepts briefs from corporate and government solicitors directly.
In addition to his practice, Shannon is a sessional academic at Deakin University’s Law School.
