Heather is a criminal defence barrister with extensive experience in criminal law in Victoria, and Western Australia. Heather became an Accredited Specialist in Criminal Law with the Law Institute of Victoria in 2018. Heather holds a current Indictable Crime Certificate and is on Victoria Legal Aid's Preferred Barrister List.

Heather was selected to participate in the 2022/2023 Victoria Legal Aid Trial Counsel Development Program. Heather regularly appears in all types of indictable and summary crime hearings including trials, committal hearings, contested hearings, bail applications, appeals, breach proceedings, and plea hearings. Heather appears in all metropolitan and regional courts in Victoria. Heather also accepts briefs in quasi-criminal matters including intervention orders, criminal compensation, and supervision orders.

Heather practiced in Victoria as a Solicitor Advocate at leading criminal defence law firms Leanne Warren & Associates and David Barrese & Associates, appearing regularly in indictable and summary crime matters. Heather previously practised for several years as a Solicitor Advocate in criminal defence in Western Australia and gained regulatory experience working at the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC). At ASIC, Heather's work focussed on insider trading and market manipulation, fraud, and money laundering.

Heather has a Graduate Diploma in Criminal Justice and lectures in Criminal Law and Procedure at Swinburne University. Heather has previously tutored Criminal Law at Monash University and universities in Western Australia.
