PROFILE

Iman maintains a broad practice with a focus on criminal law, work health and safety and government matters. She also welcomes briefs in child protection. 

Her skills are built on a wealth of experience in the government and regulatory space.

Before joining the Bar, Iman served as a Legal Adviser at Comcare providing legal advice on complex investigations and prosecutions under the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (Cth). She is especially passionate about advising inspectors on their legislative functions and assisting in prosecuting matters that relate to psychosocial risks.

Iman has also worked as a solicitor at the Victorian Department of Families, Fairness and Housing where she regularly appeared in the Children’s Court, County Court, Family Court and VCAT. Iman enjoys the challenge of assisting clients facing sensitive and emotional circumstances.

Additionally, Iman completed her graduate year at the Australian Taxation Office, gaining experience in tax litigation and international tax advisory and making her a versatile legal professional. She commenced her legal career working as a clerk in the Children’s Court. 

Since 2021, Iman has been a sessional academic at Deakin University and teaches evidence law.

Iman holds a Bachelor of Law with first class Honours. She graduated with the Victoria University Medal of Excellence and was top of her class.

Iman has a special interest in human rights law. 

She is reading with Shivani Pillai and her Senior Mentor is Elizabeth Ruddle KC.
