Adam accepts briefs in criminal, commercial and regulatory law.
Adam has practised at each stage of the investigative and prosecutorial processes in the criminal jurisdiction, including appearing as a solicitor advocate in summary and indictable matters. He has a particular interest in white-collar crime, and issues arising at the intersection of criminal and corporate law.
He also has an interest in the law of legal professional privilege, especially in relation to statutory agencies, and has been published in the Criminal Law Journal in that connection.
Before coming to the Bar, Adam was a Senior Lawyer in criminal law at the Australian Securities and Investments Commission, a Principal Federal Prosecutor at the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (Cth) and a solicitor in private practice.
At ASIC, Adam gave advice on diverse issues related to ongoing investigations and prosecutions, including the proper exercise of ASIC’s investigatory powers, and the management of legal professional privilege and public interest immunity claims.
At the Commonwealth DPP, Adam conducted and later supervised complex Commonwealth prosecutions involving fraud, interferences with the administration of justice, serious drug and money laundering offences and Corporations Act offences such as insider trading and breaches of directors’ duties.
Adam has a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Sydney. He is completing a Master of Laws at the University of Melbourne.
Adam is reading with Claire Nicholson and his senior mentor is Patrick Doyle SC.
