Barrister Information

Profile

Brad Penno, BA, LLB, Grad. Dip. Leg. Prac., practises predominantly in the civil, crime and commercial areas. He appears in the superior courts, appearing regularly in the lower courts, VCAT and the Coroner's Court.

A significant part of his practice in recent years has been focussed on family violence and related crime and litigation in the lower courts and appellate jurisdictions. This area of practice has developed in conjunction with regular appearances in the federal courts in family law litigation.

His background comprises 30 years' experience in criminal investigation with Victoria Police, including the management of teams and units engaged in serious crime investigation through his attachments to the Homicide Squad, the Major Collision Investigation Unit and other investigative units at various levels.

Through his attachment to the Victoria Police Ethical Standards Department he has had extensive experience in the conduct and oversight of organisational disciplinary processes and investigations over an extended period of time.

He has accumulated wide experience in administrative and disciplinary processes in the context of personnel management. This has required considerable involvement in policy formulation and advice concerning the regulation and management of personnel on an organisational level over a significant period of time in the context of allegations of misconduct arising from alleged human rights abuses, critical incidents and public complaints.
