Profile

Bridie accepts briefs in criminal, regulatory and quasi-criminal matters. 

Since coming to the bar, she has regularly appeared in both summary and indictable jurisdictions. She appears in contested hearings, bail applications, pleas, committals, de novo appeals, and breach proceedings (unled) and has appeared as junior counsel in trials. She also has experience in drafting and responding to written cases and has appeared as junior counsel in criminal applications and appeals.

Bridie is currently participating in the Victoria Legal Aid Trial Counsel Development Program. She holds an Indictable Crime Certificate.

Bridie also has experience in advising in relation to, drafting relevant documents for, and appearing in, regulatory matters, including in relation to prosecutions by WorkSafe, local municipal councils and proceedings involving the Victorian Legal Services Commissioner.

Bridie is a member of the Criminal Bar Association and Women Barristers Association.

 

Background

Prior to joining the Bar, Bridie worked as Senior Associate to the Honourable Chief Judge Kidd in the County Court and Senior Associate to the Honourable Justice Kaye in the Court of Appeal. 

During her time at the County Court, Bridie also worked on significant law reform and policy projects, and prepared judicial professional development workshops. 

Before this, Bridie was a solicitor advocate at a busy criminal defence firm for a number of years. 

Bridie holds a Bachelor Laws (First Class Honours) from Monash University. 

Bridie read with Sharon Lacy SC and her senior mentor was Neil Clelland KC.
