Profile

Cam took silk in November 2018 after 13 years at the Bar. 

He is a very experienced commercial barrister with a broad commercial law practice.  He has particular expertise in regulatory proceedings and class actions, competition law and consumer protection, property and trusts disputes, product liability, corporations and securities law.

He is briefed by private law firms, government lawyers and directly by in-house Counsel.

Cam regularly advises and appears in Supreme Court and Federal Court matters including urgent freezing order applications and other injunctive relief.  He also increasingly undertakes matters in other jurisdictions including the Supreme Courts of New South Wales, Australian Capital Territory and Western Australia. 

Cam is regularly included in the "Best Lawyers List for Australia", most recently in the areas of Commercial Law and Real Property Law.

Cam is a member of the Victorian Legal Admissions Committee.

Cam's recent and current briefs include:

  • acting for lead Plaintiffs in a class action against Daniel Lanzer and other medical practitioners;
  • acting for lead Plaintiffs in a racial abuse class action against the AFL;
  • acting for a respondent in cartel proceedings brought by the ACCC;
  • acting for members of the Victorian Liberal Party in an internal governance dispute;
  • acting for ASIC in relation to civil penalty proceedings in the Federal Court against Westpac Banking Corporation for alleged breaches of the National Credit Code;

Cam is a co-author of the textbook, “Civil Penalties in Australia”.

Cam is a founding member of the Asian Australian Lawyers Association (AALA – aala.org.au).

  • Dreamland Development Pty Ltd v Navadiya Group Pty Ltd [2025] VSC 365 and on appeal Dreamland Development Pty Ltd v Navadiya Group Pty Ltd [2026] VSCA 58 (breach of loan deed and construction of option clause);
  •  Australian Securities and Investments Commission v Westpac Banking Corporation [2026] FCA 651 (civil penalty proceeding concerning hardship requests - civil penalty $26M ordered);
  • Yeung v Zank Capital Ltd [2026] VSC 75 (alleged breaches of fiduciary duty and misappropriation);
  • Harkin v Vapold Pty Ltd [2025] VSC 814 (internal governance dispute within Liberal Party - interlocutory summary dismissal application dismissed);
  • Taringa Property Group Pty Ltd v Kenik Pty Ltd [2024] QSC 298(judicial review of adjudication under Building Industry Fairness (Security of Payment) Act 2017);
  • Lombardo v Dermatology and Cosmetic Surgery Services Pty Ltd (Summary Dismissal and Pleadings) [2024]VSC 608 and on appeal Lanzer v Lombardo [2025] VSCA 229 (class action against Daniel Lanzer and other medical practitioners - interlocutory applications dismissed and leave to amend granted);
  • Rowson v Alpass (No 2) [2024] VSC 169 (breach of contract; estoppel arising from alleged purchase of legal practice);
  • ASIC v Mercer Financial Advice (Australia) Pty Ltd [2023] FCA 1453 (deficient and misleading FDSs by a financial services licensee - civil penalty $12M imposed);
  • ASIC v AMP Superannuation Limited [2023] FCA 488 (civil penalty proceeding - fees wrongfully charged to deceased customers - unconscionable conduct - civil penalty $24M ordered);
  • ADG Digital Pty Ltd v Trigon Trading Pty Ltd (Administrators Appointed) [2023] FCA 232 (stay of orders for payment out of Court funds transferred from Bahamas bank account);
