Profile

Elaine practises in commercial and public law, with particular interests in contractual and corporate disputes, insolvency, insurance, judicial review and regulatory matters.

Before coming to the Bar, Elaine practised as a lawyer in civil and commercial litigation and administrative law at Austin Haworth & Lexon Legal. Her experience included contractual, shareholder, property and strata disputes, insurance matters, and merits review and judicial review proceedings. In that role, she appeared in both interlocutory and final hearings.

Prior to that, Elaine worked at the National Disability Insurance Agency, where she managed a substantial portfolio of merits review proceedings before the Administrative Appeals Tribunal and its successor, the Administrative Review Tribunal.

Elaine holds a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and a Bachelor of Commerce, majoring in Finance and Accounting, from the Australian National University. She is fluent in Mandarin and is the founder of the Chinese Australian Lawyers Network.

Elaine is reading with Phil Cadman and her senior mentors are William Lye OAM KC and Alexandra M Folie SC.
