Profile
Since coming to the Bar in 2008, James has developed a broad commercial litigation practice with a focus in building and construction disputes and insurance law. His legal practice also covers general contractual disputes, owners’ corporation and lease disputes and civil and administrative claims. His legal practice has been operating in conjunction with a separate but complimentary project consultancy business- Insource Consulting.
James regularly appears at VCAT and is available to appear in all Courts and Tribunals and at the Building Appeals Board.
Prior to Bar, James’s legal experience was obtained as a senior in-house lawyer with the Department of Treasury and Finance (legal and major project delivery roles), TAC and at Maddocks in their construction law area. He has particular expertise in the management of government litigation and the administration and procurement of major government infrastructure and construction projects and continues to regularly advise the Victorian Government and other State Government's in relation to major government project reviews having done so since 2008.
James holds a combined Bachelor of Laws and Economics degree from Monash University. He also holds a Master of Laws from Monash University and has separate post graduate qualifications in construction law and insurance.
James is a member of the Building Disputes Practitioners’ Society.
