Lachlan practises in commercial law, public law and tort law.
Before coming to the Bar, Lachlan was a Principal Solicitor in the Litigation and Dispute Resolution branch of the Victorian Government Solicitor's Office. His practice included institutional torts and various public law matters including judicial review applications, advice on public interest immunity and vexatious litigant proceedings.
Previously, Lachlan was a solicitor in the Dispute Resolution branch of Herbert Smith Freehills in Melbourne and later a Senior Associate in the firm's insurance disputes practice in London. His commercial experience includes class actions, product liability, property litigation, professional negligence and complex insurance disputes.
Lachlan holds a Bachelor of Laws with Honours (First Class) and an Honours Degree in Linguistics from the University of Melbourne and a Master of Law from the University of Cambridge.
Whilst at the University of Cambridge, Lachlan completed a commercial specialisation with a public law thesis on an Australian constitutional law topic. He later spent several years in a product development and governance role with a Cambridge based legaltech startup and retains an interest in new technologies.
Lachlan is reading with Dion Fahey and his senior mentor is Andrew Woods KC.
