Profile

Nadia appears and advises in Family Law, Criminal Law and Personal Injury. Since her admission in 2006, Nadia brings a diverse background of extensive experience as an advocate.  She has appeared in the Family Court, Magistrates Court, County Court and Supreme Court.

Nadia appears in all aspects of family law hearings. With her many years of experience as a legal practioner advising in family violence and sexual offences, she is highly skilled in dealing with the sensitivities and challenges that family violence brings to legal proceedings. Her experience and knowledge makes her well placed to advise on matters of law, evidence and resolution, particularly in the intersection of Family Law and Criminal Law.  Previously, Nadia advised in the Family Law Assistance Program at the Monash Legal Service. 

Nadia accepts briefs to appear and advise in all criminal law and quasi-criminal law matters including occupational health and safety, regulatory prosecutions, compensation applications, judicial reviews, royal commissions and coronial inquests. Nadia has extensive experience in criminal proceedings involving the health profession and members of Victoria Police. Nadia has conducted both Final and Interim Intervention Order Hearings appearing both for the Respondent and the Applicant. She also practises in disciplinary proceedings and spent conviction applications. She regularly appears on behalf of local councils in summary offences.

Nadia worked as a solicitor at the Office of Public Prosecutions from 2005 to 2021.  Nadia was a member of the Specialist Sexual Offences Unit for 10 years. She gained particular knowledge of historical sexual offences and the areas where sexual offending and domestic violence intersect. She confidentially provided advice regarding the complex legal regimes, including sentencing and registration.  In the Trial Division, Nadia managed a large and complex file load involving homicide, worksafe prosecutions, fraud, drugs and serious assaults upon emergency workers. She had carriage of the prosecution of many high-profile cases and regularly appeared in the Magistrates’ and County Courts. Nadia worked in the Court of Appeal directorate, where she was involved in reviewing disclosure material and drafting submissions for appeals which related to the Royal Commission into the Management of Police Informants 2019 to 2021. Nadia also provided training concerning the implementation of the Evidence Act and Criminal Procedure Act in 2009 and 2010 with Christopher Beale (now His Honour Justice Beale of the Supreme Court). Nadia also provided training on a regular basis to stakeholders in relation to sexual offences, confidential communications, tendency and coincidence, arson and misconduct in the public office.

Nadia is the co-author, with Professor Richard Fox, of the well-regarded text book “Victorian Criminal Procedure: State and Federal Law”.

Nadia is on the preferred barrister list for the Transport Accident Commission (TAC).

Nadia is a member of the Victorian Bar Reader's Committee, Children's Bar Association, Family Law Bar Association and Criminal Bar Association.
