Olivia Kefford is currently undertaking the September 2025 Victorian Bar Readers Course and will sign the Bar Roll on 25th of September upon the successful completion of the course.
Olivia is an experienced advocate who accepts briefs in criminal law and public and administrative law. She also accepts briefs in commercial law.
Before coming to the Bar, Olivia was a Senior Lawyer at the Office of Public Prosecutions and Senior Federal Prosecutor at the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions. Olivia frequently appeared as a solicitor advocate. She has prosecuted and advised on complex fraud offending on behalf of Commonwealth agencies including ASIC, the ATO, and the AFP. These matters involved large scale fraud perpetrated on government agencies and individual investors, insider trading, breaches of directors’ duties, money laundering, and offences relating to the provision of financial services.
Prior to the CDPP, Olivia was a solicitor at K&L Gates in the commercial litigation team, where she acted in a broad range of matters including regulatory, professional indemnity, insurance, and public liability disputes.
She was an associate to Judge McNab in the Federal Circuit Court of Australia (as he then was).
Olivia is reading with Daryl Brown and her senior mentor is Richard Knowles KC.
