Profile
Peter is an experienced trial and appellate advocate, practicing in criminal law, administrative law, disciplinary and licensing law and in coronial inquests and coercive inquiries.
His criminal law practice encompasses all criminal proceedings and related proceedings, including jury trials in the County and Supreme Courts and appeals in the Court of Appeal and High Court. He holds an Indictable Crime Certificate, and is on the Victoria Legal Aid Preferred Trial Counsel List. He is experienced in occupational health and safety prosecutions and complex fraud matters.
His administrative law practice includes merits review and judicial review. He advises government agencies on administrative law matters including on issues of statutory construction and legislative reform.
He appears in disciplinary and licensing proceedings for and against regulators. He appears in coronial inquests as counsel assisting and for interested parties. He is experienced in issues arising for persons giving evidence in coercive inquiries, including in royal commissions and IBAC examinations, and in advising persons required to respond to subpoenas.
