PROFILE

Tim practices predominantly in criminal law and appears unled in jury trials; and in the Court of Appeal. Tim holds an Indictable Crime Certificate and is a member of the Victoria Legal Aid Criminal Trial Preferred Barrister List.

He has a particular expertise in applications made under the Serious Offenders Act 2018 in the County and Supreme Courts.

He is also regularly briefed to advise and appear in proceedings for breaches of the Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004 and the Environment Protection Act 2017.

Tim accepts briefs to advise on employment matters such as unfair dismissal, general protections and workplace discrimination. He is also available to appear in regulatory and disciplinary matters.  

Tim accepts briefs to advise and appear in commercial disputes drawing upon his background in commercial litigation.

Prior to joining the Bar Tim gained 12 years of experience in criminal and commercial practice.

  • Tim has expert knowledge of state and federal criminal offences gained whilst employed at Victoria Legal Aid, the Victorian Aboriginal Legal Service and the Office of Public Prosecutions where he was a principal solicitor.
  • In 2016 Tim was accredited as a criminal law specialist by the Law Institute of Victoria.
  • In private practice Tim managed a diverse commercial litigation practice covering contractual and employment disputes, and Part IV proceedings amongst others.
  • Tim also managed high value taxation enforcement proceedings on behalf Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs (UK).
