Profile

Chris accepts briefs to appear and advise in criminal law, migration law, intervention orders, family law, commercial disputes, military law and employment law. Chris holds an Indictable Crime Certificate (ICC) and is included on Victoria Legal Aid's Criminal Trial Preferred Barrister List.

Prior to coming to the Bar, Chris practised as a solicitor for over seven years in a boutique generalist law firm and a leading migration law firm. Whilst at both of these firms Chris appeared regularly at the Magistrates' Court for criminal and commercial matters and at the Adiminsitrative Appeals Tribunal and the Federal Circuit Court for migration matters.

Since coming to the Bar, Chris' practice has evolved into predominantly running criminal trials at the County Court of Victoria and the Supreme Court of Victoria.  Chris accepts briefs to appear in criminal matters in all jurisdictions. Chris appears regularly in the Magistrates' Court of Victoria in criminal matters and intervention order matters.

Chris also accepts briefs to appear in the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia for family law matters and judicial review of migration decisions.  Chris has appeared in the Federal Court of Australia for review and appeal of migration decisions.

Before being admitted to legal practice, Chris had a 17-year career as a Principal Warfare Officer in the Royal Australian Navy. Chris also has six years of management consulting experience, advising telecommunication and energy service providers on commercial matters relating to IT transformation projects.
