Profile

Tim's main area of practice is criminal law. He appears in jury trials and in the Court of Appeal. He holds an Indictable Crime Certificate and is a member of the Victoria Legal Aid Criminal Trial Preferred Barrister List.

Tim also appears in applications made under the Serious Offenders Act 2018 and he provides advice and appears in matters arising under the Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004, Building Act 1993 and the Environment Protection Act 2017.

Tim accepts briefs to advise on employment matters such as unfair dismissal, general protections and workplace discrimination and can be briefed to appear in quasi-criminal, regulatory and disciplinary proceedings, whether in courts or tribunals or during the investigation phase.

Tim also accepts briefs to advise and appear in commercial and contractual disputes.

Prior to joining the Bar Tim accrued 12 years of experience in criminal, regulatory and commercial practice.

  • Tim has expert knowledge of state and federal criminal offences and has appeared in criminal trials on behalf clients charged with murder, rape, sex offences, drug and property offences.
  • In 2016 Tim was accredited as a criminal law specialist by the Law Institute of Victoria.
  • In private practice Tim managed a diverse commercial litigation practice covering contractual and employment disputes, and Part IV proceedings amongst others.
  • Tim also managed high value taxation enforcement proceedings on behalf Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs (UK).
