Anticipating Applications in Criminal Trials

This practical session is designed to equip Solicitors with valuable insight into identifying applications that may arise before and during criminal trials, preparing for, and anticipating, such applications, and recognising when to seek assistance and how best to do so.
Neill Hutton SC has specialised in conducting criminal trials for over 20 years and also appears at appeals (County Court and Supreme Court - Court of Appeal), Order 56 reviews, inquests and confiscation matters.
Paul Kounnas is a seasoned advocate and appears in jury trials in the Supreme and County Courts in Victoria. He is on the VLA Preferred Barrister List and has developed an expertise in complex jury trials, including those involving special hearings.
Alice Cooney accepts briefs to defend and prosecute in both criminal and regulatory matters. She held senior legal roles and managed teams, including as Principal Solicitor at the Office of Public Prosecutions and the Environment Protection Authority.
