Daze in Court - Greek Artefacts, Discovery & Disclosure
In this episode of Daze in Court, Foley’s barrister Rohan Hoult is joined by List member Jim Mellas and Keleigh Robinson from Carew Counsel to discuss disclosure obligations in family law, including the significance of s 71B, practitioners’ responsibilities and the consequences of non-compliance.
They also explore practical approaches to managing disclosure, including proportionality, subpoenas, tender bundles and early briefing of counsel, alongside recent family law cases and Jim’s work advocating for the return of the Parthenon sculptures.
Rohan Hoult is a former Senior Judicial Registrar of the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia, who returned to the Bar in 2023. He has over 35 years’ experience practicing exclusively in family law. Rohan’s extensive practice has included significant trial and appellate work, complex child and property matters, and experience in Magellan cases. He is also an AIFLAM Nationally Accredited Mediator.
Jim Mellas practised predominantly in Family Law having become an LIV Accredited Specialist in Family Law in 1991. His practice coves all aspects of Family Law including Property, Defacto Relationships, Parenting and Financial Agreements. He has particular experience in complex financial family law matters involving companies, trusts and family businesses. Jim has also had experience in Criminal Law matters as well as Trust and Estate matters.
Keleigh Robinson is a Principal Solicitor at Carew Counsel Solicitors, she is a co-editor of “The Family Law Book”, a national publication providing legal analysis, advice and precedents to family lawyers. She is also an AMDRAS Accredited Mediator, a LIV Accredited Specialist in Family Law and has an Applied Masters in Family Law.
