Profile
As a former judicial officer, Rohan Hoult was limited in his capacity to appear in court. Rohan can now appear in all courts, including Division 1 and Division 2 of the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia (FCFCOA).
Rohan Hoult has over 35 years’ experience practicing exclusively in family law. Rohan’s extensive practice has included significant trial and appellate work, complex child and property matters, and experience in Magellan cases. He is also an AIFLAM Nationally Accredited Mediator.
Rohan was admitted to practice in 1986 and was called to the Bar in November 1988. In 2020, Rohan took on the position of Senior Judicial Registrar for the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia, delivering judgments and presiding over Judicial Settlement Conferences. He notably served as the head of the Magellan List from 2020 to 2022 and was also the Senior Judicial Registrar for complex financial matters.
Rohan returned to the Bar in July 2023 and currently practices across a broad range of family law matters as mediator, as counsel for mediation and for advice work. As of November 2024, Rohan is now available to appear in all courts.
Rohan's commitment to his work is reflected in his personal strengths which include high motivation, effective communication skills, a sense of humour, and an empathetic nature. His clear and analytical thinking and ability to navigate stressful situations make him a strong and effective counsel.
He was Vice President of the Victorian Family Law Bar Association from 2010 to 2022
