Ellen accepts briefs in taxation, insolvency, administrative, equity and general commercial matters. She has significant experience in State and Federal Taxation matters relating to stamp duty (including landholder duty), payroll tax, land tax, income tax and GST.
Her tax practice extends to tax structuring advice, investigations and audits, private rulings and objections right through to litigation and alternative dispute resolution.
Immediately before coming to the Bar, Ellen was employed at the Victorian State Revenue Office where she acted for the Commissioner in complex stamp duty (including landholder duty), payroll tax and land tax matters. She has also acted and appeared for the Federal Commissioner of Taxation in relation to insolvency and Part IVC matters.
Her extensive experience in the private sector specialising in taxation involved the provision of tax technical and structuring advice, drafting and negotiation of private ruling applications and objections and drafting/negotiation of commercial agreements.
Ellen holds Juris Doctor and Master of Laws degrees from the University of Melbourne as well as a Bachelor of Computing degree from Monash University.
